The Washington Football Team signed Jace Sternberger off the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad Wednesday and placed fellow tight end Logan Thomas on injured reserve.

Sternberger, 25, was released by the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 21 after serving a two-game NFL suspension for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. He signed with Seattle on Sept. 23.

A 2019 third-round pick, Sternberger caught 12 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown in 12 games last season with Green Bay.

Thomas injured a hamstring in the first quarter of Sunday’s 34-30 win at Atlanta and did not return. He was hurt while running a deep route on the team’s first drive. He threw his helmet in frustration after reaching the sideline.

Thomas, 30, has 12 receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has 119 receptions for 1,104 yards and 10 scores in 62 career games with the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Washington.

Washington (2-2) hosts the New Orleans Saints (2-2) on Sunday afternoon.
