Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is on “voice rest” this week after a throat injury that landed him in the hospital for a brief time after last week’s game.

Burrow is expected to play this week, he’s just not expected to talk much.

“Everything’s going good,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday. “We’re just limiting what he has to say and how he’s gotta use his voice through today.”

Burrow was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice but did not meet with the media.

Burrow went to a local hospital after Sunday’s 25-22 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers to be evaluated for a throat contusion. He was having trouble speaking after the game.

Burrow, 24, was the No. 1 overall choice in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has passed for 1,269 yards with 11 TDs and six picks in five starts this season for the Bengals (3-2), who take on the winless Detroit Lions in Week 6.
