NCAAB: Balanced Baylor blows out Norfolk State

Cameron Carr scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting to lead Baylor to a 97-67 win over Norfolk State on Wednesday afternoon in Waco, Texas.

Six players scored in double figures for the Bears (7-2), who shot 52.9% from the field and led the Spartans (4-7) by as many as 39 points.

Obi Agbim had 18 points and five assists and Tounde Yessoufou added 17 points for Baylor, which also got 16 from Caden Powell and 11 apiece from Michael Rataj and Dan Skillings Jr.

Elijah Jamison and Anthony McComb III each had 19 points for the Spartans.

Carr’s dunk off an Agbim assist gave the Bears a 52-31 lead with 18:27 left.

Adrean Newton hit a 3-pointer for the Spartans to cut it to 57-38 with 15:31 left, but that was the last time Norfolk State would keep the lead under 20.

Isaac Williams IV completed a three-point play for a 73-46 Baylor lead with 10:13 left.

The Bears used a 14-2 run in the final 2:31 of the first half to take a 47-31 lead at halftime.

Baylor took a 33-22 lead with 5:49 left in the half when Agbim hit a 3-pointer for three of his 10 first-half points.

The Spartans used a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 33-29 with 2:33 left on a layup by Jordan Leaks.

Agbim made it 44-31 with 1:04 left with a 3-pointer and Williams ended the half on a 3-pointer with three seconds left.

The Bears held the Spartans to 38% shooting (23 of 60). Baylor finished with a 42-30 edge in rebounding and a 54-32 advantage on points in the paint.

The Bears built a big lead early by hitting six of their first eight shots. Rataj hit a 3-pointer with 14:22 left to give Baylor a 15-7 lead.

The Spartans cut it to one as Jamison, who had 10 in the first half, nailed a 3-pointer and Devon Ellis hit a pair of jumpers to get within 15-14.
