NBA2K: Pistons start NBA 2K League 3v3 title defense with win

Reigning champion Pistons GT opened the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 playoffs with a 3-0 sweep of Jazz Gaming on Wednesday in Washington.

The Pistons prevailed 21-16, 21-15 and 30-28 to advance to an upper-bracket quarterfinal matchup with community team Dot Squad, who pulled out a 3-2 win over Celtics Crossover Gaming.

Anthony “Ant” Costanzo paced the Pistons with an average of 14.3 points per game. Ryan “RekCombos” Reteguiz put up 13 points per game for the Jazz.

The double-elimination playoffs feature 14 teams, with top-seeded T-Wolves Gaming and second-seeded DUX Infinitos receiving first-round byes. The tournament, which has a $600,000 prize pool, runs through Saturday.

In other first-round action, community team Glo Navy Glosquitos nipped Knicks Gaming 3-2, Bucks Gaming blitzed Blazer5 Gaming 3-0, NBL Oz Gaming topped Warriors Gaming Squad 3-1 and NetsGC blasted Cavs Legion GC 3-0.

In the first two lower-bracket matches, the Jazz eliminated the Celtics 3-1 and Blazer5 knocked out the Knicks 3-1.

The Friday slate will include the four upper-bracket quarterfinals:
–NetsGC vs. T-Wolves Gaming
–Glo Navy Glosquitos vs. Bucks Gaming
–NBL Oz Gaming vs. DUX Infinitos
–Dot Squad vs. Pistons GT
