LOL: Top Esports, G2 reach semis at Esports World Cup

Top Esports swept Gen.G Esports 2-0 and G2 Esports stormed past FlyQuest 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the League of Legends tournament at the Esports World Cup on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Top and G2 will meet in the semifinals of the single-elimination bracket, with T1 opposing Team Liquid in the other semifinal match.

The eventual winner of the eight-team tournament will bring home $400,000 of the $1 million prize pool. All matches are best-of-three until Sunday’s best-of-five grand final.

Top Esports defeated Gen.G in 34 minutes on red for two straight maps to clinch the sweep. Lin “Creme” Jian of China compiled a total kills-deaths-assists ratio of 17-2-15 for Top.

FlyQuest opened their match with a 38-minute win on red, but G2 evened things up with a 36-minute win on blue before prevailing in 30 minutes on red in order to advance.
