OG and G2 Esports each recorded a win on Wednesday to advance to the Round of 8 in the single elimination Blast Premier Fall Showdown.
OG swept paiN Gaming after posting a 16-13 victory on Ancient and 16-6 triumph on Inferno.
Finland’s Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen had 39 kills and a plus-13 kills-to-death differential for OG, who advanced to face Complexity Gaming on Friday. Complexity secured a 2-1 win over MIBR in their opening match.
Brazil’s Rafael “saffee” Costa paced paiN Gaming with 42 kills and a plus-9 kills-to-death differential.
G2 Esports rallied from an opening-map setback to secure a 2-1 win over Lynn Vision. G2 dropped a 16-14 decision on Vertigo before notching a 16-10 victory on Inferno and 16-8 triumph on Nuke.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Nikola “NiKo” Kovac had 70 kills and tied Serbia’s Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic with a plus-16 kills-to-death differential for G2.
G2 will await the winner of Friday’s contest pitting Evil Geniuses and MAD Lions.
China’s Lizhi “Starry” Ye had 56 kills and a plus-1 kills-to-death differential for Lynn Vision.
All matches are best-of-three in the playoffs, which run through Sunday. The top two teams proceed to the Fall Finals. The winner takes home $30,000 and earns 1,500 Blast Premier points in the $162,500 event.
