Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke departed Complexity Gaming after 21 months, fueling speculation that the 24-year-old Dane is moving toward joining Astralis.

The move was announced Thursday by Complexity, saying in a statement that k0nfig “has chosen a different direction for 2022.”

The move follows a report last month that k0nfig had opted against re-signing with Complexity. k0nfig’s contract with Complexity reportedly was set to expire on Jan. 1, 2022.

Astralis is based in Denmark, and its coach once revealed that the organization had interest in signing k0nfig in 2018.

k0nfig has been sidelined since mid-August after suffering a wrist injury that required surgery.

k0nfig joined Complexity in November 2019 after stints with Team Dignitas, North and OpTic Gaming.
