Aurora Gaming and Team Vitality swept their way into the upper-bracket final at the StarLadder StarSeries Fall with wins on Friday in Barcelona, Spain.
Aurora downed NRG 2-0, and Vitality got past FURIA 2-0, setting up a Saturday showdown for a berth in the grand final.
In lower-bracket first-round action on Friday, MOUZ rallied for a 2-1 win over Natus Vincere, and MIBR edged magic 2-1.
The $500,000 Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 event runs Thursday through Sunday and features eight teams in a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final.
The winning club will take home $200,000, split between a $100,000 player prize and a $100,000 team share.
On Friday, Aurora topped NRG 13-7 on Cache, then sealed the series with a 19-17 double-overtime win on Mirage. Turkey’s Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dortkardes led Aurora Gaming with 51 kills and a plus-14 kill-death differential. The United States’ Michael “Grim” Wince recorded 39 kills and a minus-1 K-D differential for NRG.
Team Vitality dumped FURIA 13-8 on Mirage, 13-5 on Dust II behind 39 kills and a plus-14 K-D differential from France’s Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. Kazakhstan’s Danil “molodoy” Golubenko produced 29 kills and a minus-1 K-D differential for FURIA.
Natus Vincere opened with a 13-10 victory on Cache before MOUZ charged back to claim Inferno 13-10 and Mirage 13-8. Israel’s Dorian “xertioN” Berman notched 49 kills and an even K-D differential for MOUZ. Ukraine’s Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov amassed 59 kills and a plus-14 K-D differential for Natus Vincere.
MIBR took Ancient 13-8 before magic captured Mirage 13-11. MIBR wrapped up the victory by claiming Inferno 13-8. Brazil’s Felipe “insani” Yuji totaled 63 kills and a plus-21 K-D differential for MIBR. Kazakhstan’s Abdurakhim “mo0N” Issa registered 63 kills and a plus-20 K-D differential.
