OVERWATCH: Philadelphia Fusion release sHockWave

Niclas “sHockWave” Jensen’s tenure with the Philadelphia Shock is over after one season with the Overwatch League team.

The 21-year-old Danish DPS player is a free agent after the Shock bid him farewell Tuesday.

The team tweeted, “Thank you for your hard work and positive energy; we are proud to have had you as a member of our team this year. We wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your career, sHockWave!”

sHockWave responded on Twitter (punctuation added), “Goodbye, Philly. It has been such a pleasure to play for the Fusion and to meet all the Fusion guys in person; these guys treated me like family and I enjoyed every moment of it.”

He added that he is looking for a new team, writing, “Still motivated to become the best.”

sHockWave spent the 2020 season with the Vancouver Titans after earlier stints with Square One, the Montreal Rebellion and Raspberry Racers.

The Fusion posted a 10-6 record this year, good for ninth place in the OWL and fourth in the East Region. They posted two wins in the postseason play-in event to reach the playoffs. However, they were ousted after dropping their two playoff matches in the double-elimination format.
