MLB: Shohei Ohtani, Bryce Harper lead finalists for Hank Aaron Award

Shohei Ohtani and Bryce Harper headline the 2021 Hank Aaron Award finalists, presented to the best offensive player in each league.

Ohtani registered 46 homers and 100 RBIs at the plate and went 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA on the mound this season for the Los Angeles Angels. The other American League nominees are Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto), Aaron Judge (New York Yankees), Cedric Mullins (Baltimore), Matt Olson (Oakland), Salvador Perez (Kansas City) and Jose Ramirez (Cleveland).

Harper posted a .309/.429/.615 slash line with 42 doubles, 35 home runs and 101 runs scored for Philadelphia. Also nominated in the National League are Nick Castellanos (Cincinnati), Brandon Crawford (San Francisco), Paul Goldschmidt (St. Louis), Fernando Tatis Jr. (San Diego), Juan Soto (Washington) and 2020 winner Freddie Freeman (Atlanta).

Winners will be announced during the World Series.

The Hank Aaron Award was established in 1999 and named after the Hall of Fame slugger and longtime home run king who died in January at age 86.
