Unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan crushed Claire Liu 6-2, 6-1 on Saturday to capture her maiden WTA Tour title at the Morocco Open in Rabat.

Trevisan, 28, saved nine of 10 break points during a 92-minute match that pitted the world’s No. 85-ranked player against Liu, an American who is ranked No. 92.

The clay-court WTA 250 final began with the players exchanging service breaks, but Trevisan held serve the rest of the way. Liu fought off four set points in the first set before succumbing.

Internationaux de Strasbourg

No. 2 seed Angelique Kerber of Germany outlasted Slovakia’s Kaja Juvan 7-6 (5), 6-7 (0), 7-6 (5) in three hours and 16 minutes to capture her 14th title in Strasbourg, France.

The three-time Grand Slam winner had not won on clay since the 2016 Stuttgart Open. Kerber converted six of 15 break chances in the marathon match, compared to six of 19 for the unseeded Juvan.

Juvan, who was seeking her maiden WTA Tour title, finished with 151 total points won and Kerber had 146.
