Indiana extended the contract of women’s basketball coach Teri Moren, which the university said Friday will make her one of the highest paid coaches in the sport.

Moren will receive more than $1.3 million a year on the contract, which was extended by two years through the 2028-29 season. Her contract contains incentives that can increase the value.

The Hoosiers finished with a 28-4 overall record and won the program’s first regular-season championship in 40 years and earned a first-ever No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They fell to No. 9 Miami in the second round.

The reigning Associated Press coach of the year, Moren is the program’s winningest coach. She has a 200-93 record (99-57 Big Ten) during her nine seasons at Indiana, including eight straight 20-win seasons.

That was twice the number of 20-win seasons for the Hoosiers in the previous 41 years.

Moren, 54, is an Indiana native who played at Purdue.
