WNBA: WNBA All-Star Game to feature 4-point shot

Sunday’s WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago will feature a 4-point shot and other special rules designed to add excitement and speed up the pace of play.

Four circles — two at each end of the court — will be placed above the current 3-point line at a distance of 28 feet from the rim. Any bucket made from a player in contact within one of the circles will count as four points.

The game will also feature a shortened shot clock, reduced from 24 to 20 seconds. The shot clock will reset to 14 seconds after an offensive rebound.

Also, points will automatically be awarded for free throws for most of the game. The only time players will shoot free throws will be during the last two minutes of the fourth quarter and all of overtime, if necessary.
