Chicago Sky guard Skylar Diggins is being shut down for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, the team announced Tuesday.

The Sky (15-25) have been eliminated from postseason contention, leaving the club with little reason to risk putting the seven-time All-Star on the court.

Per a statement from the team, it wants to “prioritize Skylar’s long-term health after collaboration and communication with Skylar and her team, Sky doctors, and the organization’s medical staff.”

Diggins, 36, has been sidelined since early July. She averaged 14.2 points and 4.9 assists in 19 games (all starts) during her first season with the team.

Diggins has contributed 16.3 points and 5.3 assists in 354 career appearances (341 starts) with the Tulsa/Dallas franchise, Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and Sky.
