Marine Johannes poured in 27 points off the bench as the host New York Liberty crushed the short-handed Las Vegas Aces 111-71 on Sunday afternoon.
Jonquel Jones scored 15 points, Breanna Stewart and Han Xu notched 14 points apiece and Rebecca Allen added 13 points for the Liberty (20-13), who extended their winning streak to four games. They reached the 100-point mark for the fifth time this year.
Johannes drained seven of 3-point shots on 12 attempts, though she missed on her final two from distance. New York was 14 of 32 (43.8%) from beyond the arc as part of its 53.3% overall shooting from the field.
WNBA scoring leader A’ja Wilson didn’t play for the Aces, who have dropped back-to-back games for only the second time this season. Wilson matched a season low with 16 points at Minnesota on Saturday.
Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon said after Saturday’s game that she would expect lineup adjustments with the team playing for the third time in four days. The Liberty last played Wednesday.
The Aces’ second- and third-leading scorers — Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray — also didn’t play after logging more than 30 minutes Saturday. Las Vegas was aiming for its league-high 14th road victory.
Las Vegas received 30 points from Ta’Niya Latson, while Mai Yamamoto added 16 and Justine Pissott scored 11, all off the bench.
Rebekah Gardner had 11 points for New York. The Liberty also dominated on the boards with a 45-24 advantage, with Jones and Allen each pulling in eight rebounds. Marine Fauthoux distributed nine assists.
Las Vegas starters shot a combined 1-for-7 on 3-pointers.
The Liberty built a 50-39 halftime lead and then scored the first seven points of the third quarter. New York ended up with a 24-12 scoring advantage in the third.
New York has won two of three meetings with Las Vegas and avenged a 104-99 loss on July 30.
