UFL: UFL roundup: Battlehawks’ defense too strong for Defenders

The St. Louis defense pitched a shutout in the second half en route to the Battlehawks’ fourth straight win, 45-12 over the host DC Defenders on Sunday in Washington.

The Battlehawks (4-1) outscored the Defenders 28-0 in the second half, including four touchdowns and 25 points in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback AJ McCarron was 14 of 24 for 213 yards, including touchdown passes of 13 and 80 yards to Hakeem Butler (six receptions, 147 yards).

The Defenders (2-3) had four turnovers and scored all of their points in the second quarter. QB Jordan Ta’amu was 12 of 23 for 101 yards, three interceptions and one TD pass of 15 yards to Kelvin Harmon.

Panthers 35, Showboats 18

Wes Hills rushed for three touchdowns, two in the first half, as Michigan jumped out to a 19-point lead in the second quarter and cruised to victory in Memphis.

Hills finished with 82 rushing yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 2, 1 and 14 yards for Michigan (3-2). Fellow running back Matthew Colburn II ran the ball 15 times for 68 yards and scored on a 35-yard scamper. Quarterback Danny Etling threw for 175 yards and added a 3-yard touchdown run.

Troy Williams posted impressive numbers (248 passing yards, three TD passes), but he also threw two interceptions as Memphis (1-4) lost its fourth straight game. Daewood Davis hauled in six catches for 101 yards, including an 82-yard score, while Jonathan Adams and Sage Surratt also had TD grabs.
