UFC: Former UFC fighter Felipe Colares hit by bus, dies at 29

Former UFC fighter Felipe Colares died at age 29 after being struck by a bus in Rio de Janeiro, his current fighting promotion confirmed on Tuesday.

Colares had been training before he was hit in the Guaratiba neighborhood of Rio. First responders arrived to treat him, but he died en route to nearby Hospital Rocha Faria in Campo Grande, Colares’ coach, Rodrigo Babi, said Tuesday.

Ares Fighting Championship confirmed the Brazilian bantamweight’s death with a post on Instagram.

With UFC, Colares was 2-4 in six fights from 2019-22.

He won his most recent fight on Feb. 17, 2023, beating Alioune Nahaye via first-round submission at Ares FC 12 in Paris, France.
