A New York jury has found Celebrity Singer R. Kelly guilty on all charges for racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Kelley, 54 when he is sentenced in May, could face decades in jail- or life in prison. It took two days of deliberations for the jury to come to a guilty verdict. The singer was charged with 14 acts violating federal anti-racketeering law.

Kelly has been jailed without bail since 2019.

Since Bump N’ Grind,” spending a record-breaking 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart in the 90’s, R, Kelly has been accused of abuse.

His accusers stood up and came forward in the riveting documentary “Surviving R. Kelly Pt II: The Reckoning” in

2019 which has  2 seasons. The documentary explains women’s detailed allegations of mental and sexual abuse. “We’ve been working for over a year to bring forth the stories of these women,” executive producer Joel Karsberg told The Hollywood Reporter. “We are proud to team with Lifetime to shed light on these stories as well as an industry that has looked the other way for so many years.”

Kelly took women under his control and ran a sex cult. He was found guilty of trafficking women across state lines. Kelly also bribed a government worker to help him marry late R&B singer Aaliyah at the age of only 13.

The singer made videos of his sexual interactions, in the testimony. He would make videos of his girlfriends and tell them to have sex with each other and with other men , some who they did not even know and Kelly would orchestrate every move, even when the people in the video were reluctant to perform these acts.

Breaking Kelly’s rules, victims said, came with consequences that included physical and sexual abuse. One woman described brutal spankings that Kelly called “chastisements,” hard enough to leave bruises and tear the skin. The jury was shown a video in which Kelly spanked another victim witness identified as Anna. Reports Couthousenews.com

Deveraux Cannick said his team plans to appeal. “Of course I’m disappointed with the verdict,” Cannick said while exiting the courtroom. “I think I’m even more disappointed with the prosecution bringing this case, given all the inconsistencies.”

The defense attorney stated, “His label marketed him as a sex symbol, a playboy. So he started living that sex symbol, playboy lifestyle,” Cannick, of the firm Aiello & Cannick, said during his closing. “Where’s the crime in that?” In the documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly,,” the defense attorney said – in the documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly,” said his accusers simply wanted to make money.

Pete Fitzhugh, Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security investigations in New York, said Monday after the verdict was announced. “Today’s verdict brings an end to Robert Kelly’s decade-long reign of terror over many vulnerable girls, boys and young women,” “With this verdict, it is my sincere hope that it will also begin the healing process for these brave survivors.”

The statement made by Kelly’s defense attorney certainly doesn’t sit well in todays times. With the “Me Too” movement, women are now coming forward so these predators cannot get away with these horrific acts against women.

R. Kelly still faces sex-related charges in Illinois and Minnesota. Trial dates in those cases have yet to be set.
