NOTES: This is the 14th of 44 FedEx Cup events during the regular season. The field includes 156 professionals competing alongside an amateur partner on each course over the first three days. The low 60 players and ties will make the cut for Sunday’s final round at Pebble Beach. … Among the notable amateurs are retired soccer star Gareth Bale, and NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen. Taylor Moore and Kyle Adams are the reigning team champions. … This is one of four events on the PGA Tour calendar contested on multiple courses. … Jordan Spieth has won 13 PGA Tour events since the start of the 2013 season, the most of any player in this week’s field. … Ben Silverman is among the sponsor invites after winning on the Korn Ferry Tour last week. Geoff Ogilvy is also in the field at Pebble Beach for the first time since 2017 as a sponsors exemption. … Five-time tour winner J.B. Holmes will make the second of his 26 starts on a Major Medical Extension. He needs to earn 288.816 FedEx Cup points to retain his tour card. … Former Oklahoma Sooners star Garett Reband makes his tour debut and is the youngest player in the field at 23. … Brandt Snedeker holds the tournament scoring record of 265 set in 2015.
BEST BETS: Matt Fitzpatrick (+200 at BetMGM) is the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 10 and finished T6 last year. … Spieth (+225) won the event in 2017 and has six top-10s, including finishing second last year after holding a two-shot lead with four holes to play. … No. 11 Viktor Hovland (+225) tees it up for the first time since the Tournament of Champions. He won the 2018 U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach and finished T12 at the U.S. Open in 2019 as the low amateur. … Hoge (+400) seeks to become the first player to successfully defend at the event since Dustin Johnson in 2010. He has three top-10s in nine starts this season. … Seamus Power (+400) is the only player in the field with a win this season, which came at the Bermuda Championship in October. … Maverick McNealy (+400) is still seeking his first tour victory, but two of his four career top-fives have come at Pebble Beach.
