The two teams that entered Saturday unbeaten in the Overwatch Champions Series North America Stage 2 ended the day the same way, as NTMR and Geekay Esports each remained perfect — barely.

NTMR, 4-0 to start the day, looked headed for another dominating performance, winning 2-0 on Busan Control and 3-1 on Suravasa Flashpoint to open the match. But Extinction, 1-2 entering the weekend, answered with a 4-3 win on Watchpoint: Gibraltar Escort and a 93.95m to 21.93m win on Runasapi Push to even the match. NTMR avoided the upset with a 3-2 win on King’s Row Hybrid in the deciding map.

One match earlier, 3-0 Geekay faced Team Liquid, which could have evened the teams’ records at 3-1 with a win. Liquid jumped out to the early lead with a 2-1 win on Ilios Control, but Geekay answered with a 1-0 win on Circuit Royal Escort. Liquid grabbed another lead with an 85.29m to 81.45m win on Runasapi Push, but again Geekay answered with a 3-2 win on King’s Row Hybrid. The final map was just as close on New Junk City Flashpoint, with Geekay pulling out a 3-2 win.

In the first match of the day, Sakura Esports beat Supernova 3-1, winning 2-0 on Ilios Control and 3-1 on New Junk City Flashpoint before dropping Runasapi Push 106.66m to 104.52m. But Sakura put the match away with a 3-2 win on King’s Row Hybrid.

The tournament, played online, features eight teams. The regular-season round robin will conclude on June 15, with six qualifying teams heading to the double-elimination regional playoffs.

The top three teams will advance to the Midseason Championship and North America Stage 3. The prize money has yet to be determined.

Week 4 continues Sunday with two matches.
