The Chicago Red Stars acquired goalkeeper Sydney Schneider from Czech side AC Sparta Praha for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Schneider, 24, signed a one-year contract with the NWSL club that includes an option for 2025.

“Sydney is a very exciting young goalkeeper that we’re thrilled to welcome to Chicago,” Red Stars president Karen Leetzow said. “With two World Cups and Champions League experience under her belt, Sydney will be successful in this league.”

Schneider had been with Sparta since 2022. She appeared in 15 matches, including two during qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

She previously spent time in the NWSL with the Kansas City Current (2022) and Washington Spirit (2021) after her collegiate career at UNC Wilmington.

Internationally, Schneider has represented Jamaica since 2018 and was on the Reggae Girlz’ rosters for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019 and 2023.
