The legendary Marta scored the tying goal in the 88th minute as the host Orlando Pride secured a 1-1 draw with Angel City FC on Friday night.

Marta didn’t allow Angelina’s corner kick, which sailed beyond the other players gathered in the box, to touch the turf as she one-timed the shot into the left corner of the net.

Claire Emslie had the match’s first goal on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

Marta, 38, has now scored in all four of her seasons in the league. Playing for Brazil, she is the all-time top goal scorer in World Cup history – men or women.

The tying goal served as a makeup maneuver with Angelina gaining the assist. It was her penalty in the box that gave Angel City the opportunity on the penalty kick.

Angel City (0-1-1, 1 point) goalkeeper Angelina Anderson made seven saves. Anna Moorhouse of the Pride (0-0-2, 2 points) stopped three shots.

The teams split two matches last season, with each winning on the road.

Royals 2, Courage 1

Top overall draft pick Ally Sentnor scored her first professional goal in just her second game to break a tie in the 30th minute and lift Utah over Carolina in Sandy, Utah, for its first victory since the team returned to action.

The franchise disbanded in 2020, and this is its first season back.

Sentnor, a 20-year-old forward who played for the University of North Carolina, converted the go-ahead goal after taking a pass on the defensive side of the field from Kaleigh Riehl. Sentnor worked for the goal, dribbling from the midfield stripe to the edge of the top of the box and sent a left-footed blast into the far side of the net.

Kate Del Fava had the first goal of the season for Utah (1-1-0, 3 points) in the 15th minute. Her header came on Paige Monaghan’s delivery from a corner kick.

Ashley Sanchez tied it for the Courage (1-1-0, 3 points) in the 26th minute. She used a cleaver kick to perfectly send the ball over the outstretched hand of Royals goalkeeper Mandy Haught.

Carolina, which held an 18-2 edge in overall shots, had a chance to tie the match in the 58th minute, but a penalty kick from Malia Berkely’s attempt hit the left post and bounced away.
