Debinha recorded a first-half brace to help the Kansas City Current post a 4-1 victory over visiting Bay FC on Sunday afternoon.

Bia Zaneratto and Temwa Chawinga each scored a goal for Kansas City (6-2-0, 18 points), which moved into first place in the NWSL. The Current also broke a two-match losing streak.

Penelope Hocking scored for Bay FC (2-4-2, 8 points), who is winless over their last three outings (0-2-1).

The Current scored three first-half goals to take control.

Zaneratto struck in the third minute by sending a left-footed shot into the right corner of the net.

Debinha added tallies in the 33rd and 38th minutes. The first goal came on a right-footed shot into the right corner. The second came when she took a free kick and delivered a right-footed blast into the left corner. The ball glanced off the hand of Bay FC goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz.

Bay FC got on the board in the 53rd minute when Hocking sent a right-footer into the right-hand corner.

But seven minutes later, the Current restored the three-goal edge as Chawinga ran toward a pass in the midfield and knocked it ahead with her forehead. She raced downfield and sent a right-footed shot into the left corner.

Silkowitz made two saves for Bay FC and Kansas City counterpart Lorena also had two stops.

Kansas City had an 18-11 edge in shots and put on six on target to Bay’s three.
