Angel City Football Club sent defender Paige Nielsen to the Houston Dash and midfielder Amandine Henry to the Utah Royals FC in a pair of trades on Saturday.

Angel City received $50,000 in allocation money and $50,000 in transfer funds in exchange for Nielsen, and $75,000 in allocation money for Henry.

The trades give Angel City salary cap space and roster flexibility.

“These moves are a key component of our strategy to continue to build for the immediate and future. While decisions like these are never easy, these movements do enable us to make impactful additions to our roster in the coming months,” Angel City general manager Angela Hucles Mangano said.

Nielsen, 30, played the last two seasons with Angel City after helping the Washington Spirit in their NWSL Championship run in 2021. She was selected by Angel City in the 2022 NWSL Expansion Draft.

“We are grateful to Paige for her part in the history of Angel City,” Hucles Mangano said. “She helped lay the foundation for what we started and continue to grow here. Her love for the fans and her teammates has been felt from day one and we wish her all the best.”

Henry, 34, played in nine matches with Angel City, joining the club in June 2023 following a career in Europe.

“We greatly appreciate Amandine’s interest in and willingness to return to the US and this league,” Hucles Mangano said. “While her time with Angel City has been short, her impact has been felt, on and off the pitch.”
