Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen is likely out for the season with a knee injury, coach Derek Lalonde confirmed Thursday.

Rasmussen, 23, was struck in the kneecap by a puck during the first period of Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Through 56 games this season, Rasmussen collected a career-high 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists).

The British Columbia native has 86 points (36 goals, 50 assists) in 238 games since Detroit drafted him in the first round (ninth overall) in 2017.
