Nick Schmaltz set an Arizona Coyotes franchise record with seven points, scoring two goals and assisting on five others, in an 8-5 win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz.

Clayton Keller had two goals and two assists, Shayne Gostisbehere had a goal and three assists, and Lawson Crouse put the Coyotes ahead to stay with 13:03 remaining in the third period. Scott Wedgewood made 41 saves for Arizona, which has won back-to-back games and three of four.

The previous Coyotes-Winnipeg Jets franchise single-game record was six points, accomplished six times — three by Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk. It was the first time any NHL player scored more than six points in one game since Sam Gagner, then with the Edmonton Oilers, had eight (four goals, four assists) against the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 2, 2012.

Parker Kelly scored two goals, Thomas Chabot had three assists, and Matt Murray made 23 saves for the Senators, who have lost four in a row.

The Coyotes recovered to win after blowing an early four-goal lead.

Schmaltz gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead on the power play at 4:10 of the first period when he backhanded a rebound into the net. Keller made it 2-0 at 13:53. Gostisbehere faked a slap shot from the top of the left circle before feeding an uncovered Keller at the right side of the net.

Schmaltz capitalized on a turnover, scoring from the low slot to push the lead to 3-0 at 2:50 of the second period, and Matias Maccelli scored his first NHL goal in his second game to extend it 4-0 at 12:35, skating in with speed and sliding a rebound five-hole on Murray.

Kelly gave the Senators life just over a minute later when his shot from the top of the left circle trickled through Wedgewood to make it 4-1. Josh Norris narrowed it to 4-2 from the right circle on the power play at 15:11, and Kelly brought Ottawa to within one at 16:06 from the left circle.

The Senators scored the three goals in a span of 2:12.

Tim Stutzle fed Alex Formenton for a tap-in on the doorstep 56 seconds into the third period to tie it 4-4. Nick Paul put the Senators ahead 5-4 less than a minute later from in front.

Keller tied it 5-5 at 4:07. Schmaltz picked off a pass by Murray behind the net and dished the puck into the slot to Keller, who had a wide-open net.

Crouse put the Coyotes ahead 6-5, beating Murray from the bottom of the circle on the power play at 6:57. Gostisbehere made it 7-5 from the high slot at 14:53 and Dysin Mayo scored at 16:26 to put the game away.
