The Seattle Kraken acquired defenseman Jaycob Megna from Pacific Division-rival San Jose for a conditional 2023 fourth-round draft pick.

Megna has one goal and 11 assists in 48 games this season — a career-high for the 30-year-old since he made his NHL debut in the 2016-17 season.

The seventh-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft by Anaheim, Megna has played in 135 games for the Ducks and Sharks. He has tallied 25 points (four goals, 21 assists).

With the trade, which was announced late Sunday, Megna goes from the seventh-place team in the division to one tied for first. The Kraken (29-15-5, 63 points) are tied with the Los Angeles Kings (28-18-7, 63), but the Kings have played four more games.
