Evander Kane scored twice in a three-point game as the Edmonton Oilers forced a deciding Game 7 in their Western Conference first-round playoff series by beating the host Los Angeles Kings 4-2 on Thursday.

With the score tied 2-2, Tyson Barrie scored the game-winning goal with 5:10 remaining in regulation when he jumped into a rush, took a feed from Leon Draisaitl and buried a shot from the high slot for his first goal of the series.

Connor McDavid collected one goal and two assists for the Oilers, and goaltender Mike Smith made 30 saves.

Defenseman Cody Ceci collected a pair of assists, a big contribution for a team that was without top defenseman Darnell Nurse due to the one-game suspension he received for headbutting Phillip Danault in Game 5.

Sean Durzi and Carl Grundstrom scored for the Kings, who received a 33-save performance from goalie Jonathan Quick.

Game 7 will be Saturday in Edmonton.

McDavid opened the scoring 100 seconds into the clash. After completing a give-and-go with Kane at the offensive blue line, McDavid zipped around the net when a scoring chance didn’t present himself on the rush and tucked home a wraparound for his third goal of the series.

Kane doubled the lead 1:50 in the second period when he deflected in Brett Kulak’s point shot.

The Kings were in dire need of life and received it when Durzi’s power-play goal put them on the board at 13:59 of the second period. Durzi unloaded a slap shot from the point for his first career playoff goal.

Grundstrom tied the game 29 seconds into the third period. The Kings gained the zone right away, and Grundstrom took a long pass from Matt Roy in the slot and lifted a top-corner wrist shot for his third goal of the series.

After Barrie’s go-ahead goal, Kane produced an empty-netter, his seventh goal of the series, to round out the scoring with one minute left.
