NHL: Blackhawks F Colin Blackwell undergoes hernia surgery

Chicago Blackhawks forward Colin Blackwell is out for the season following sports hernia surgery.

The team announced Thursday that Blackwell underwent the successful procedure on Wednesday in New York.

Blackwell, who turns 30 next week, is expected to be out of action for approximately 12 weeks.

He registered two goals and eight assists in 53 games in his first season with the Blackhawks.

Blackwell has 62 points (27 goals, 35 assists) in 191 games with the Nashville Predators, New York Rangers, Seattle Kraken, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago.
