Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Isaac Seumalo could return to the field as early as the Week 2 game at Denver, coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday.

Seumalo has been ruled out of Sunday’s season opener at Atlanta due to a pectoral injury he sustained in practice last Wednesday.

“Isaac can be described as out this week, but we did get good news regarding his pec injury. We’ll characterize it as week-to-week and we’ll see where next week leads us, but really optimistic about his return sooner rather than later,” Tomlin said.

Second-year player Spencer Anderson will start in place of Seumalo.

Seumalo, 30, started all 17 games during his first season with the Steelers in 2023.

A Super Bowl champion with Philadelphia, Seumalo has started 77 of the 98 games in which he has played with the Eagles (2016-22) and Steelers.
