New England Patriots cornerback Joejuan Williams sustained a shoulder injury and is out for the season, NFL Network reported Tuesday.

It likely ends a disappointing tenure in New England for Williams, whom the Patriots selected in the second round (No. 45 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He is entering the final season of his four-year rookie deal and will become a free agent in March.

Williams, 24, played his college football at Vanderbilt. In the NFL, he has appeared in 36 games (one start) and made 44 tackles with eight passes defended.
