Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead is out for a few weeks with a torn pectoral muscle, but there are no plans to place him on injured reserve.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Armstead, who was hurt in Sunday’s game, could be back in a few weeks.

“Wouldn’t put that past him. Gathering information, seeking specialists and letting information settle so information can be a little more concrete,” McDaniel said. “Considering treatment options.”

Armstead won’t play this week against the San Francisco 49ers. Beyond that, the picture is not clear for the Miami offensive line.

The leading Pro Bowl vote-getter in the AFC at left tackle, Armstead will play “again this season,” McDaniel said. But the Dolphins won’t determine how soon he could be back without hearing from medical experts.

Armstead in his first season with Miami after making the Pro Bowl three times during nine seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
