Free agent right tackle Jawaan Taylor is changing teams and could be switching sides of the line with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to reports, the 25-year-old agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract to join the Chiefs on Monday.

Exclusively a right tackle with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor could get a chance on the left side in Kansas City as the blindside protector for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City had two opportunities to closely study Taylor before and during games with the Jaguars on Nov. 13 and again Jan. 21.

Reports from ESPN and the Houston Chronicle connected the Chiefs to trade discussions for left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Whether Tunsil or another option, the Chiefs are expected to add another offensive lineman.

The Chiefs broke off contract talks with left tackle Orlando Brown last month. Brown had been mostly a right tackle with the Baltimore Ravens before the Chiefs traded multiple draft picks to bring him to Kansas City, where he played the premium left tackle position.

The Chiefs used the franchise tag to keep Brown in 2022 but opted to move in a different direction for next season.

Chiefs right tackle Andrew Wylie, also a free agent, reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Washington Commanders on Monday.

Taylor was drafted 35th overall out of Florida in 2019 and allowed 23 sacks in his first three seasons, based on Pro Football Focus film review. He won a training camp battle in August to retain his spot last season and allowed five sacks.
