Browns right tackle Jack Conklin is not ready to return for Sunday’s matchup with the New York Jets.

He was on the inactive list issued before the game.

Conklin missed last week’s opener and Cleveland again plans to use James Hudson in his place.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier in the week that Conklin was “really close” to being ready to play.

Conklin, 28, was Tennessee’s first-round pick in 2016 and is a two-time All-Pro (2016, 2020) in 79 career starts with the Titans (2016-19) and Browns.

Also inactive is rookie Perrion Winfrey, who was held out of practice Friday for disciplinary reasons, coach Kevin Stefanski said.

Stefanski did not elaborate on the reason for Winfrey’s absence. Winfrey, 22, recorded one pass defensed in five snaps for the Browns in their season-opening 26-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday.

He was selected by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.

Remaining inactives on Sunday are quarterback Kellen Mond, wide receiver Michael Woods II, running back D’Ernest Johnson, safety Richard LeCounte III and tackle Chris Hubbard.
