The Denver Broncos signed veteran linebacker Joe Schobert on Monday.

The club also activated outside linebacker Randy Gregory and offensive lineman Billy Turner from the physically unable to perform list.

Schobert posted 112 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble in 16 games (15 starts) with Pittsburgh in 2021.

Schobert, 28, has 661 tackles, 11 sacks, 10 interceptions and 10 forced fumbles in 93 games (80 starts) with the Cleveland Browns (2016-19), Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) and Steelers.

The 2017 Pro Bowl selection fills a void in Denver with linebacker Jonas Griffith out four to six weeks after dislocating his left elbow in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Schobert entered the league with the Browns as a fourth-round draft pick from Wisconsin in 2016.

Gregory, 29, underwent knee surgery in January. He signed a five-year, $70 million contract — with $28 million guaranteed — with the Broncos in March after spurning the Dallas Cowboys, who had announced the same terms with Gregory earlier in the day.

The Cowboys’ deal with the defensive end reportedly fell apart after the team inserted language in the contract that protected the team in the event of future suspensions. Gregory was suspended by the league for partial seasons in 2016, 2018 and 2020 and for full seasons in 2017 and 2019. Gregory played five seasons in Dallas.

Gregory tied his career high with six sacks last season despite playing in just 12 games (11 starts) in 2021. He missed four games in the season with a calf strain and another due to COVID-19.

Turner, 30, signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Broncos in March after playing the past three seasons in Green Bay. It’s Turner second tour of duty in Denver. He has played in 83 career games (68 starts) with the Miami Dolphins, Broncos and Packers.

The Broncos on Monday also waived offensive lineman Ben Braden with an injury designation.
