In the wake of Thursday’s injury to starting quarterback Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals will add an extra training-camp arm by signing Reid Sinnett, NFL Network reported Saturday.

Sinnett’s deal is expected to become official Sunday.

Burrow, who earned his first Pro Bowl honor last season, had to be carted off the practice field Thursday with a strained right calf. Head coach Zac Taylor told media members that Burrow is expected to miss “several weeks,” putting the signal-caller’s status for Cincinnati’s season opener Sept. 10 against the Cleveland Browns in jeopardy.

Sinnett, 26, has not yet played an NFL snap despite stints with three teams. Since being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of UC San Diego in 2020, he has made practice squads with the Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins (two separate stints) and Philadelphia Eagles (2022).

Prior to adding Sinnett, the only other quarterbacks on the Bengals roster, other that Burrow, were Trevor Siemian (13-17 as an NFL starter) and 27-year-old Jake Browning (no regular-season experience).
