Nebraska forward Rienk Mast could be back from a knee injury before much longer.

Mast, who leads Nebraska in rebounding and assists, is “doing well and remains on track to return in early January,” Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg told CBS Sports.

Mast put up 19 points and 12 rebounds in Nebraska’s 62-46 win at Kansas State on Dec. 17, but sat out last Wednesday’s eight-point win over North Dakota.

Nebraska plays its final nonconference game Friday against visiting South Carolina State. The Cornhuskers resume Big Ten play Jan. 3 at home against Indiana.

A transfer from Bradley, Mast is averaging 13.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists over 11 games for Nebraska.
