Houston guard LJ Cryer is returning to the Cougars for a final season in 2024-25.

Cryer posted a photo to his Instagram page with the words “Run it Back” and a game action photo of him holding up the index finger on his right hand.

Cryer averaged 15.5 points in his first season with the Cougars after three years at Baylor and topped 100 3-pointers made in 2023-24.

Cryer is the second Houston player in as many days to share plans to be back next season. J’Wan Roberts announced he’s returning to the Cougars for next season in a Monday social media post.

Houston finished the season first in the Big 12 and won 32 games, but the No. 1 seed lost in the Sweet 16 to Duke after All-American senior point guard Jamal Shead suffered an ankle injury during the 54-51 loss.

Shead played at Houston the past four seasons and has one year of eligibility remaining.

He tested the NBA draft process last spring before announcing on June 6, 2023, that he planned to play one more season at Houston.
