NCAAB: Former Duke G Jeremy Roach commits to Baylor

Former Duke star point guard Jeremy Roach has committed to Baylor, he announced Sunday on Instagram.

Roach, who entered the transfer portal on Tuesday and declared for the NBA draft on Wednesday, picked Baylor over a number of schools, including Kentucky, Villanova and Syracuse.

In four seasons at Duke, Roach averaged 11.3 points, 3.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 130 games (108 starts).

The Virginia native earned third-team All-ACC honors as a senior, when he averaged a career-high 14.0 points and 3.3 assists and shot a career-high 42.9 percent from 3-point range. The former McDonald’s All-American posted double-figure point totals in all four of Duke’s NCAA Tournament games.

Afte two solid seasons to start his Duke career, including a Final Four appearance in 2021-22, Roach broke out with 13.6 points and 3.1 assists as a junior and played well down the stretch.

With RayJ Dennis out of eligibility, Roach is likely to be the Bears’ starting guard if he doesn’t stay in the NBA draft. He has until May 29 to decide.
