Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham agreed to a five-year, $224 million maximum rookie extension, his agents confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

The deal could become worth up to $269 million, according to representatives Jeff Schwartz and James Dunleavy of Excel Basketball.

Cunningham, 22, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. In 2023-24, he averaged career highs in points (22.7) and assists (7.5) along with 4.3 rebounds in 62 games (all starts).

Cunningham has career averages of 20.0 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 138 games (all starts). He missed most of the 2022-23 season following surgery for a stress fracture in his left shin.
