Vancouver Whitecaps FC find themselves in desperate need of a goalkeeper after Cody Cropper and Isaac Boehmer were placed in MLS health and safety protocol on Friday.

Midfielder Pedro Vite also was placed in protocol on Friday, two days before Vancouver’s road match against Charlotte FC (4-7-1, 13 points).

While the Whitecaps (3-6-2, 11 points) have other midfielders on their roster, they do not have a healthy goalkeeper. Starting goalkeeper Thomas Hasal is sidelined with a middle finger injury on his left hand.

“We are currently exploring all our options at the keeper position for Sunday’s game,” Whitecaps FC CEO and sporting director Axel Schuster said.

Hasal, who has a 1.94 goals-against average, has started all nine matches in which he has appeared this season for Vancouver. Cropper has played in three games (two starts), while Boehmer has yet to see action in 2022.
