The Colorado Rapids signed midfielder Jasper Loffelsend to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 MLS season, with an option for 2026.

“We are absolutely delighted to sign Jasper to a new deal and keep him here in Burgundy,” team president Padraig Smith said in a news release Tuesday. “Jasper brings notable assets to the team with his athleticism and ability to cover extensive ground. His versatility not only enriches our depth but also amplifies the competition within the squad.”

Loffelsend, 26, made his Rapids debut on March 9 and played 71 minutes in a 2-1 road win against his former club, Real Salt Lake.

He appeared in 51 MLS matches (34 starts) with RSL from 2022-23, contributing two goals and seven assists.

Loffelsend played professionally in his native Germany from 2016-20 before suiting up for the University of Pittsburgh. Real Salt Lake drafted him in the third round (81st overall) in 2022.
