MLS: NYCFC acquire M Richy Ledezma on loan

New York City FC acquired midfielder Richy Ledezma on loan from the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on Friday.

The deal runs through the 2023 MLS season and does not contain a purchase option.

Ledezma, 22, came up through Real Salt Lake’s youth system before joining the high-profile Eredivisie club.

“Richy is an extremely talented player with excellent technical qualities which suit our methodology, and will play an important role across several positions in our midfield,” NYCFC sporting director David Lee said. “Richy has also gained experience playing in Europe during the past years and will be an important addition to our group.”

Ledezma recorded one goal and one assist in 23 games for PSV Eindhoven’s first team. He tallied seven goals and seven assists in 47 games for the club’s reserve team.

Internationally, Ledezma made his debut with the U.S. Men’s National Team during a November 2020 friendly against Panama.
