MLS: Minnesota United loan M Alejandro Bran to English club

Minnesota United loaned midfielder Alejandro Bran to English third-tier side Burton Albion FC, the MLS club announced Thursday.

The 23-year-old native of Costa Rica is on loan with a purchase option with the EFL League One club through the summer of 2025.

Minnesota permanently acquired Bran from Costa Rica’s CS Herediano before the transaction. He had been with the Loons on loan since January.

Bran appeared in 11 MLS matches (six starts) and contributed one goal. His goal was the match-winner in the season opener at Austin FC on Feb. 24.

“In the time that we have worked with Alejandro, we have observed his development on and off the field, and are happy to permanently transfer Alejandro to MNUFC,” sporting director Khaled El-Ahmad said in a release.

“With that being said, we were presented with an intriguing opportunity to loan Alejandro to Burton Albion, so we decided to provide him the opportunity to continue to develop his game in a competitive league like EFL League One.”
