The Houston Dynamo traded midfielder Derrick Jones to expansion club Charlotte FC on Wednesday.

Houston also sent $50,000 in 2023 general allocation money (GAM) to Charlotte and received $250,000 in 2022 GAM in exchange.

The Dynamo will also receive 20 percent of any future transfer fee outside of MLS.

Jones, 25, was acquired by Houston in a January 2021 trade with Nashville SC. He appeared in 20 games for the Dynamo and tallied an assist last season.

He has three assists in 64 career matches (34 starts) with the Philadelphia Union (2017-19), Nashville and Houston.
