MLB: Twins recall Josh Winder, send down RHP David Festa

The Minnesota Twins recalled right-hander Josh Winder from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

In a corresponding move, the Twins optioned rookie right-hander David Festa to the Saints.

Winder, 27, is 2-0 with a 4.78 ERA, eight walks and 28 strikeouts over 26 1/3 innings in 15 games for the Saints.

Minnesota selected Winder in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Virginia Military Institute. He made his major league debut in 2022 and is 6-7 with one save, a 4.51 ERA, 32 walks and 75 strikeouts in 34 games (11 starts) over parts of the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Festa, 24, made his major league debut on June 27 and was 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA, one walk and eight strikeouts over 10 innings in two starts.
