MLB: Reports: Cards RHP Miles Mikolas agrees to 2-year extension

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas agreed to a two-year, $40 million extension, multiple media outlets reported on Friday.

ESPN reported Mikolas will receive a $5 million signing bonus and a $3 million boost to his 2023 salary, elevating it to $18.75 million. Mikolas will make $16 million per season in 2024 and 2025.

Mikolas, 34, was named to the All-Star Game for the second time in his career last season. He finished with a 12-13 record and 3.29 ERA in a career-high 33 appearances (32 starts).

Mikolas is in line to be the Cardinals’ Opening Day starter after veteran Adam Wainwright landed on the injured list with a groin strain.
