MLB: Nationals reach one-year deal with Alcides Escobar

Washington Nationals infielder Alcides Escobar agreed to terms on a one-year contract to remain with the team.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the Nationals on Tuesday.

Escobar, 34, batted .288 with four homers, 28 RBIs and 53 runs scored in 75 games with the Nationals. He joined the team on July 3 after signing minor league deals with the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals.

Escobar batted .259 with 45 homers, 470 RBIs and 658 runs scored in 1,512 career games with the Milwaukee Brewers (2008-10), Royals (2011-18) and Nationals. He also played in Japan for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows during the 2020 season.
