Logan Webb allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings as the San Francisco Giants opened a four-game home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 5-0 victory on Thursday.

Pinch hitter Wilmer Flores broke open a tight game with a two-run double in the eighth.

LaMonte Wade Jr. hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to give the Giants a 1-0 lead. Mike Yastrzemski capped a four-run eighth with a two-run single, helping the Giants win a second straight game for just the second time this season.

Webb was the star of the show after getting off to a rocky start in which he served up game-opening singles to Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll.

The right-hander escaped damage by retiring the next three men he faced, stranding Marte at third, before setting down the Diamondbacks in order until issuing a one-out walk to Christian Walker in the seventh.

Walker was quickly erased on a pickoff, and after Webb got Eugenio Suarez to ground out to third, he was done for the night, having walked one and struck out five.

Protecting a 1-0 lead at the time, Giants reliever Tyler Rogers allowed just a two-out single to Randal Grichuk in a scoreless eighth. San Francisco’s Ryan Walker struck out the side in the ninth.

Nick Ahmed ignited the big eighth inning with a leadoff double against the third Diamondbacks pitcher, Bryce Jarvis. After an error by second baseman Marte and a walk to Wade, Jarvis temporarily stemmed the tide by getting Jorge Soler to ground into a force out, with Ahmed retired at the plate.

Kyle Nelson came on and was greeted by Flores’ double to left field, which made it 3-0. Yastrzemski’s two-run hit came with two outs to complete the scoring.

Arizona starter Ryne Nelson was pulled after two innings. He was hit on the right (pitching) arm by a Yastrzemski comebacker in the second. He allowed two hits in his two scoreless innings, during which he had no strikeouts or walks.

San Francisco’s Patrick Bailey doubled to lead off the third against reliever Logan Allen (0-1), advanced to third on Jung Hoo Lee’s infield hit and scored on Wade’s fly ball to center.

Lee had two hits for the Giants, who went a seventh straight home game without a home run.

The Diamondbacks finished with three hits, all singles, while taking their third loss in four games.
