Kerry Carpenter hit a two-run homer, Reese Olson recorded his first win this season in his 10th start, and the host Detroit Tigers topped the Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Carpenter also blasted a two-run homer in Detroit’s win over the Blue Jays on Friday, which snapped a five-game losing streak.

Olson (1-5) was forced to leave his previous start at Kansas City with a right hip contusion after being struck by a line drive. He limited the Blue Jays to one unearned run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Tyler Holton pitched the ninth for his first save this season and second of his career.

Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios (5-4) allowed two runs and seven hits while striking out five in seven innings. Davis Schneider drove in their lone run with a double.

Mark Canha hit a two-out double in the bottom of the first. Carpenter then yanked a Berrios changeup on a 2-0 count over the right field wall for his eighth homer.

Kevin Keirmaier’s triple with one out in the third was the Blue Jays’ first hit. He was left stranded when Olson struck out Davis Schneider and induced Justin Turner to ground out.

Carpenter led off the fourth with an infield single but was caught stealing.

The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the fifth on singles by Alejandro Kirk and Isiah Kiner-Falefa and a two-walk to Schneider. Olson then struck out Justin Turner with a changeup.

Jake Rogers had a two-out double in the bottom of the inning but Wenceel Perez lined out to end that threat.

The Blue Jays scored an unearned run in the seventh. Olson walked Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who stole second. Ernie Clement reached on first baseman Canha’s error.

Alex Faedo replaced Olson, who retired Kiermaier on a popout. Schneider’s two-out double then scored Kiner-Falefa as Clement held at third. Shortstop Javier Baez threw out Justin Turner on a slow bouncer to keep the score at 2-1.

Kiner-Falefa had a one-out double in the ninth and reached third on a flyout. Holton then fanned pinch hitter Danny Jansen
